John O'Connor, PT, CSCS - Owner
John graduated from The University of Pennsylvania's Physical Therapy program in 1980 after completing his undergraduate degree at Villanova University.
He started Palos Verdes Physical Therapy in 1985 and has been a successful owner treating orthopedic clients for over 30 years. As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a member of the NSCA, he has a strong interest in sports and performance enhancement for youth, high school, college, and weekend athletes. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (Orthopedic, Sports, & Private Practice Sections). In order to keep up on the latest advances in Physical Therapy he continually attends lectures and stays current with the latest journals and research.
John takes pride in educating his patients and empowering them to achieve their functional goals. John enjoys most sports including Baseball, Football, Soccer, & Golf. He is interested in computers, music, and spending free time with his family.
Katrina Herskedal, PT, DPT, CSCS
Katrina enjoyed her undergraduate education at UC Santa Barbara. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 2008.
She then attended the University of Southern California and subsequently obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2011.
Katrina is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a member of the NSCA.
She enjoys working with patients that are active in recreational sports including both high school athletes and weekend warriors. Her advanced training has enabled her to successfully care for just about any patient with a movement disorder. She does specialize in the treatment of extremities - shoulders, knees, and ankles.
Her philosophy is to treat not on the pain but the underlying problems (abnormal movement) causing the pain. She accomplishes this through extensive patient education, highly skilled hands-on therapy techniques, functional and core training, and pain-relieving treatments such as heat, ice, ultrasound and electrotherapy.
Katrina is very active in her spare time. She enjoys:
- Cycling
- Hiking
- Volleyball
- Spending time at the beach.
Nancy Smith Cox, PT, MSPT, PES
Nancy received her Bachelors degree in Biology from Pomona College in 1980. She then earned her Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from University of Southern California in 1984.
She has been practicing orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy for over 25 years, and really enjoys working with seniors, shoulder patients, and spine patients.
Nancy recently became a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is also a candidate for a prestigious national certification as an orthopedic certified specialist. Less than ten-percent of all physical therapists successfully complete this certification process.
Nancy has been happily married, to her husband Bob, and is very proud of her two children who are both very active in athletics.
In her spare time, she enjoys walking her two dogs, Daisy and Harley, and doing yoga.
